“If you’re lying, nerd, I’ll kill you,” the tall girl yelled to the small, ugly boy on the slope above her.
“Look.” He pointed to glyphs incised in rocks and disappeared inside a cave.
She paused at the entrance.
His flashlight scanned rock carvings. “There’s more inside.”
He ducked behind a rock, covering his ears. He hated this part. Her screams ended abruptly.
The dragon rested its head by the boy, blood still on its jaws.
She was skinny, only feed his friend for a few weeks. But the big bully …
Smiling he stroked his new pet.
